GENERAL QUESTIONS

ISN'T
MUNICIPALLY TREATED WATER SAFE?
Most well operated municipal treatment plants in the
U.S. produce water of acceptable bacteriological and aesthetic
quality. However, they may not be equipped to monitor for
protozoan cysts of Giardia and Cryptosporidia or to monitor
the organic chemical content. Additionally, after the water
leaves the treatment plant it can become recontaminated
within the distribution system. In fact, more cases of Cryptosporidiasis
and Giardiasis have occurred on municipally treated water
than on raw water.

WHY
DOES THE WATER FROM OUR STORAGE TANK TASTE BAD?
The water can accumulate tastes and odors from the plastic
or aluminum material of the storage tank and plumbing lines.
If allowed to stagnate in the tanks water can promote growth
of algae and bacteria that can also produce a sulfur compound
which is apparent as "rotten egg" odor. For this
reason a chlorine compound such as household laundry bleach
should be added to your water storage tanks at a 1 to 3
ppm concentration.

WHAT
IS IN THE WATER THAT MAKES IT TASTE BAD AND CAUSES US TO
GET SICK WHEN
we travel?
There are many possible contaminants of drinking water.
Microbiological organisms, such as pathogenic bacteria and
cysts of Giardia and Cryptosporidia, can cause diarrhea,
cramps, vomiting and other symptoms referred to as "Montezuma's
Revenge". Organic chemicals such as herbicides, pesticides,
solvents and THMs can often be found even in treated water
supplies and have been associated with long term disease.
Additionally, contaminants such as dirt, chlorine, rust,
foul tastes and odors can make water unpleasant and unhealthy
to drink. Foul tastes and odors often come from water storage
tanks and distribution lines

HOW
CAN I PROVIDE GOOD, POTABLE DRINKING WATER FOR MY FAMILY
WHEN WE TRAVEL?
General Ecology's Nature-Pure® Water Purifier is
intended to provide bacteriologically safe water from virtually
any treatable fresh water source. This system also removes
Giardia, Cryptosporidia, many organic pesticides, herbicides
and industrial solvents along with foul tastes and odors.
Nature Pure Water Purifier is certified to meet US EPA Microbiological
Guide Standard against bacteria, cysts and viruses!

Is
bottled water a safe and reliable alternative?
The best bottled water may be bacteriologically safe
but bottled water is neither convenient nor inexpensive.
The bottles are heavy, bulky, take up valuable storage space,
and must be disposed of when empty.

CUSTOMER SERVICE QUESTIONS

HOW
CAN I PURCHASE A SYSTEM?
General Ecology Inc. has qualified distributors in
many major metropolitan areas throughout the United States
and the world.
If there isn't a distributor near you, you can buy factory
direct from General Ecology Inc. Contact us today to place
an order or to find a distributor in your area. Please be
sure to include your mail address or facsimile number to
receive an order form or a listing of a dealer near you.

CAN
I INSTALL THE SYSTEM MYSELF?
Yes. The components you normally need to install the system
are included along with illustrated step by step instructions.
The Nature-Pure system requires no electricity and generates
no waste water.

WHERE
DO I GET REPLACEMENT CARTRIDGES & OTHER PARTS?
Cartridges and replacement parts are carried by many
RV/Marine service centers across the country. You also may
order by calling 800-441-8166 EST. We can ship directly
to you from General Ecology, Inc. We accept Visa, MasterCard,
American Express and Discover. General Ecology, Inc. Online
Store also carries Nature Pure Water Purifier and Replacement
Parts.

WHAT
SERVICE OR MAINTENANCE IS REQUIRED ON THE SYSTEM?
Once installed, the only service normally required is
to change the cartridge when it becomes clogged. This is
indicated by a reduced flow rate. If your RV is stored for
the winter remove the cartridge (before adding antifreeze),
let it dry and store it until spring. The cartridge can
be reinstalled after the water system has been purged of
antifreeze.

WHAT
ABOUT MY ICEMAKER, INSTA-HOT UNIT OR REFRIGERATOR WATER?
General Ecology provides handy icemaker installation
kits permitting Nature Pure purified water to be directed
to your refrigerator for chilled water and icemaker requirements.
Similarly, the insta-hot inlet line can also be connected
to the water line from your Nature Pure water purifier.

PRODUCT TECHNOLOGY QUESTIONS

How
does the Nature-Pure system work and what does it remove?
Nature Pure Water Purifier uses General Ecology's
proprietary "Structured MatrixTM" Ultrafine
cartridge. The Ultrafine cartridge uses submicron filtration
to physically remove particles larger than 0.4 microns
absolute (0.1 nominal). This includes all visible particles
as well as pathogenic bacteria and protozoan cysts. The
Ultrafine cartridge also incorporates high quality adsorption
and molecular sieving materials to remove chemical compounds
such as herbicides, pesticides, and solvents as well as
foul tastes and odors. Finally, both plus and minus charges
are incorporated into the cartridge to attract oppositely
charged particles even smaller than those removed by microfiltration.
All of these purification mechanisms, working together,
produce drinking water that is not only refreshing but
also pleasantly clear and sparkling.

DOES
THE SYSTEM REQUIRE A HOLD OR PROCESSING TIME?
No. The water is purified instantly when you need
it. There is essentially no chance for recontamination
nor do you need to store bulky containers.

HOW
FAST DOES THE SYSTEM FLOW AND HOW LONG WILL IT LAST?
The Nature-Pure System with Ultrafine cartridge will
flow at 0.5 gpm with inlet pressure of 20 psi. This allows
you to fill an eight ounce glass in about seven seconds.
The cartridge has a nominal capacity of 500 gallons. Naturally,
the cleaner the source water the longer the cartridge
will last.

WHY
NOT PURIFY ALL OF THE WATER COMING INTO THE RV?
Most of the water used in an RV is used for cleaning
and washing purposes. By installing a system just for
drinking water and using a dedicated faucet you can have
pure water of unsurpassed quality for cooking and drinking
without wasting it. Additionally, water held in a storage
tank can take on unpleasant tastes and odors. Should you
choose to clean all of the water, other systems are available
from General Ecology.

WHAT
ABOUT BENEFICIAL MINERALS AND SALTS?
The Ultrafine cartridge does not remove beneficial salts
and minerals. It is intended for fresh water use

HOW
DO I KNOW THAT IT WORKS?
General Ecology, Inc. has been producing top quality
point of use drinking water systems since 1973. Our systems
have been certified and specified by Daimler-Benz Airbus,
McDonnell Douglas, Gulfstream and Boeing and are used on
most major airlines. We provide systems for European rail
cars and for marine, military, and outdoor recreational
markets. We produce systems for residential use as well
as for emergency response teams. Our systems have been tested
by international agencies and laboratories and found to
provide healthful drinking water from virtually any fresh
water source.
